Our Adult Martial Arts Classes FAQ
If your question is not listed below, then please contact Clive Elliott .
What styles of martial art can I learn?
Predominantly we teach kickboxing, however there are many styles that we can offer you over the years. Please see the styles pages to see what we also offer!
What do I wear when I first start?
If this is your first time and do not have the uniform, we recommend some light comfortable clothing such as jogging bottoms and a T-shirt. No shoes/traininers are to be worn during training as we train on a matted area.
How often do I have to train?
We recommend that you train twice a week, as this gives you a good amount of class training time - without over-training. However, we do understand that due to people's other commitments (time & finances) we always recommend lots of practice at home to those doing so.
What if i train for a while and decide i do not like it?
You will like it!
However, if you train for a month (attending the sessions that you said you would) and give it a fair go, and then decide that it really isn't for you - we'll give you back the money you've paid out so far.
At the end of the day, we want people training who love it as much as we do. We offer this option so that people have the opportunity to try our classes, without the worry of wasting money if they don't enjoy them.
Do I have to go through the belt system?
The belt system that we have in place at our schools is a very important part of how we teach. Some of our students are very keen to work through their belts; others aren't particularly interested in them and just want to train. However, for us, it is the best way of assessing when people are ready to learn more complex techniques - and also of making sure that people are grasping the information that they are learning.
So even if you are joining just to get fit, gradings will form a small part of your training.
